Largest true-color image of the sky ever is made of 37,000 photos

SkyGuide's creator Nick Risinger had to travel more than 60,000 miles by airplane and car to collect 37,000 individual photos to create this single image, the largest true-color image of the entire sky ever made: 100,000 by 50,000 pixels.

He is using this image in the new version of SkyGuide, which will be released for iPad and iPhone on December 19. It looks like an incredible app, with beautiful rendering of the sky and its objects. Check out this video preview:
