Watch America's new missile defense system destroying an enemy fighter

You're seeing America's new ground-to-air missile defense system in action, destroying an enemy QF-4 Phantom fighter jet. In fact, it simultaneously destroyed two airborne enemies during a stress test last Wednesday. Its name is MEADS and it will replace the famous Patriot missile interceptors.

The test at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico was completely unprecedented and, according to the program managers, it "achieved all criteria for success." Judging by the explosive video, it seems they are not exaggerating.

The enemy targets—a remotely controlled variation of the classic McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom jet and a missile—were coming from opposite directions, pushing the radar and software systems of the interceptors to target and destroy two bogies at the same time in a 360-degree area.
